Motorcycle Theft is Rising — Let’s Talk About It

Motorcycle theft is something most riders try not to think about too much.

Until it happens. Or until someone you know has a bike taken.

Over the last year we’ve heard more and more stories from riders coming through the workshop & shop. Some recovered their bikes. Some didn’t. Some had trackers.

Some didn’t. Some thought their security setup was solid — until it wasn’t.

The reality is that motorcycle theft in the UK has become more organised, more targeted, and in many cases faster than most riders expect.

And there’s a lot of confusion around what actually works when it comes to protecting your bike.

So we thought it was time to get riders together and have a proper conversation about it.

That’s why we’re hosting a Motorcycle Theft & Security Evening at Machinehead Moto in Guildford to talk openly about what’s actually happening and what riders can realistically do about it.

Let’s Talk About It

On Thursday 19 March we’re hosting a Motorcycle Theft & Security Evening at Machinehead Moto with Julie from BikeTrac.

Julie deals with theft incidents, recovery stories, and tracking technology every single day. She sees how bikes are stolen, what security slows thieves down, and what happens when a tracker activates.

It’s a chance for riders to talk openly about what’s happening and share real questions.

Because riders already have questions — and some really good ones are already coming in.

We’ve already had questions like:

  • My tracker didn’t work — why?
  • Can thieves jam tracking systems?
  • How do organised gangs steal bikes so quickly?
  • What security actually slows them down?
  • Do police respond when a tracker activates?

These are the real questions riders are asking right now — and we think they deserve honest answers.

Have a Question?

If you’ve got something you’d like us to ask on the night, send it through.

Send a Question for the Motorcycle Security Evening

Even if it feels like a simple question — chances are other riders are wondering the same thing.

If you can’t make the evening but still want to ask something, send it in anyway and we’ll try to cover it.

Motorcycle Theft & Security Evening

📍 Machinehead Moto Workshop – Loseley Park
📅 Thursday 19 March
🕖 7pm start

We’ll open the workshop doors, put the kettle on, and talk openly about what’s happening out there right now.

Just riders, real questions, and straight answers.

RSVP for the Evening

The workshop isn’t huge, so we’re keeping numbers sensible to make sure the conversation actually works.

Why We’re Hosting This

Machinehead Moto has always been about riders helping riders.

And right now, motorcycle theft is affecting too many people in our community.

So instead of ignoring it — we’re talking about it.

If the evening helps even a handful of riders better understand how to protect their bikes, then it’s worth it.

After the Event

After the Motorcycle Theft & Security Evening we’ll update this article with some of the key questions and answers discussed on the night.

If you can’t make the event but still want to understand how motorcycle theft is evolving — and what riders can realistically do about it — check back here after the evening and we’ll share the insights.
